Cardigan Design
π¬π§ In spring and summer evenings, I often want to throw something on with short sleeves but have never found anything that really fits my needs. All the body warmers, slipovers, or vests are closed at the front and often have no sleeves at all. I wanted something like a sweater-jacket but with short sleeves. So, I finally used DAK (Design A Knit) to design a cardigan from scratch.
I had some beautiful blue speckled yarn from Zegna Baruffa, called “Fancy Yell” (NM 2/10; 500m/100g; 100% merino). I made a swatch from my selected yarn, washed it in the machine and took the gauge measurements. I measured my body too, and put all the data into DAK and started designing.
And here it is: My short-sleeve cardigan, fresh from the machine. It looked so wonky! The yarn is rather stiff and not very flexible, so the ribbing was not contracting very well. But I had high hopes that a bath would relax it.

I didn’t put cardigan in washing machine (yet) but let it soak and float in the bathtub. I used the washing machine only for centrifugation and then let it dry lying flat overnight. The cardigan changed a lot.

I am very happy with my new, made for my body cardigan with short sleves!
